Belmopan FC Secures Playoff Spot with 3–1 Victory Over Wagiya

Dangriga, Belize — Belmopan FC clinched a crucial 3–1 win over Wagiya FC today in Premier League of Belize action, securing their place in the 2025 playoffs and ending Wagiya’s postseason hopes.

After a scoreless first half, Wagiya struck first early in the second period. Belmopan’s response was swift and decisive — forward Dwada Kamara leveled the score with a powerful strike, igniting momentum for the visitors. Minutes later, Adrian Graffin capitalized on a defensive lapse to put Belmopan ahead 2–1. Kamara sealed the victory with his second goal of the match, a composed finish that ensured Belmopan’s playoff qualification.

Head Coach Dale Pelayo praised his team’s focus and resilience, saying:

“We came in to get the win and secure a playoff spot, and the boys got the job done. Winning on the road is important also, as we have to be able to get wins away from home as well.”

The win marks a significant milestone for Belmopan FC, a club that has undergone major transformation in recent months. With a new ownership group at the helm, the team has quickly reestablished itself as a competitive force in Belizean football.

Belmopan FC will now face Verdez FC, the reigning Premier League of Belize champions and recent representatives in the CONCACAF Central American Cup, in the opening round of the playoffs. Before that, Belmopan will close out the regular season this Saturday, November 8, against Napoles FC — a match expected to serve as key preparation for their postseason campaign.

For Belmopan FC and its supporters, today’s victory represents more than just three points — it marks the beginning of a promising new chapter for one of Belize’s most storied franchises.
